Tree Trunks at Balls Head Reserve, on Sydney's lower north shore

Balls Head Reserve is a very pleasant spot for a picnic, a bush walk and to enjoy the view. Follow Balls Head Reserve Drive. Get to North Sydney, head up the Pacific Highway and turn left into Bay Street. Soon enough you will see where you are going.
There are barbecues, toilets and a playground for the kids.
The walk through and around the trees on Balls Head is very relaxing. You need about half an hour to walk around the headland, and little more time than that if you need to stop and enjoy a trunk.
And if you quiet on your trek and reasonably keen eyed, you may also see one of the many little critters that live there!
I think in this set of images, I tend to prefer trunks with the red, gnarled barks. But it is only a preference, because I also like the smooth barks, and the trunks with a mess of branches, and ...
