Blog ![]() "A blog sounds like something that blocks the S-bend..."
The year is 8% complete, roughly. HIV is thought that HIV came from monkeys. Mark Taylor is Australian of the year. Australians don't know who our first prime-ministers were. Who was the first Governer General? |
30th January 1999It's all a gameBlew away some monsters at a mate's place. Quake II in single player mode.A fun shoot-em-up game that is distinctly different from reality. I don't ever remember using a number 7 weapon on a petty official. The fact that anyone can claim there is a link between video games and behaviour is not right in the head. The vast majority of players are spotty nerds with manners. Sure, I have no official survey figures, but prove me wrong. Unlike the constant examples of fine behaviour from public figures. Federal ministers fiddling with travel expenses. Yeah, beat up the bus drivers for taking subs from the till. At least they're only borrowing, and pay it back on pay day. Then we learn juicy details about Diamond Jim after he dies, from priviledged members of the media. Trial by media after death. What could be safer, and you get to associate your name with a well known person too. I have no doubt that being in the press demands some level of "off the record" comments. But, explain to me how this can be considered anything but self censorship. No hesitation will be found amongst our scribblers to denounce the good character of the humble citizen facing charges. No hesitation to ridicule and pour scorn on defenceless targets of their peeping press perversions. Ofcourse, this type of rant makes sweeping statements lumping in good journalists with the questionable. I have no particular urge to point fingers. Rather it is the expression of frustration that our media on the whole provide an imbalanced mix of content and focus. end of rave.
