Blog ![]() "A blog sounds like something that blocks the S-bend..."
There are lots of people on the planet. Mars is too far to walk to. The desert is empty. I hate computers. The road is long. |
19th January 1999My today is your tomorrowA sense of proportion is always important. I started fretting that my non-existent American readers would become disturbed by my site, and other Australian sites, which speak of things "from tomorrow". As such, I am feeling compelled to post my BSD daily at 6am Sydney Time. Not as many yesterday people would notice the difference. And people in Australia who read my rants after midnight don't often realise how late it is anyway. Perhaps an international call for Net time is in order. While the rest of the world is doddling about with local time, am/pm, Day Light Saving, Eastern standard time etc., we could indulge in a timeless 'net time. A time beyond conversion. Perhaps I will start writing to newsgroups full of techno web addicts and start a push for the www.net-time.com site. I don't particularly give a rats what time unit they choose or how they slice up the dayparts if at all. That would be a critical aspect of judging the winning site. Then we would need a whole bunch of time/date convertors to allow people to transact across the digital boundary. Imagine it now: "My watch has a stopwatch, calculator, international time, and net time!!" Cool! 24 hours a day reality never made sense to me anyway. Some days seem to last an eternity. end of rave.
