Missing in Action

I have a mate who has the habit of dropping below radar every so often. I have known him for more than twenty years and there are numerous occassions where many weeks, if not months, would pass before he would surface again.

He is currently in one of those phases it seems.

It's only been about four weeks since I last spoke with him so it is not a trigger for me, but I have started receiving calls of relatives of his who are trying to track him down. I don't mind having people checking in about the status of him, but I am not particularly interested in having frequent and lengthy conversations with them. My mate avoids conversing with them and I have no desire to be his proxy.

"It's only been a few weeks," I explain, "and until it reached a couple of months would I move to code yellow."

Why he is the way he is, who he knows, where he may be or do I have other contact details are all queries for which I have no answer. I usually don't. He contacts me when he contacts me and then a period of regular interactions by telephone ensues with lots of extended discussions on any matter imaginable will be enjoyed. We chat for hours with great pleasure.

Anyway, when other people start contacting me about his whereabouts I am forced to send out a signal to the universe to get him to make a link. Lacking a belief, let alone an ability, in psychic powers and in the absence of any reliable contact details, this can be a challenge...

For this particular episode, I have unearthed an email to a person he has dealt with over a period of time. I was able to piece together enough clues from past conversations to achieve this.

End of rant.
