Watching Kim "Big Man" Beazley giving the opposition reply to the government's lack lustre budget statement was inspiring. Forget about the details and the fear of new taxes, because that is irrelevant. What the people of this country are wanting is a government that will provide some vision of where we are going and of what kind of society we want to be.

The Howard government is not only sneaky and mean, it is also devoid of imagination. They spend all their energies crafting legislation to make people comply with a stupid taxation idea, and crafting carefully worded press releases to make it look like we are better off now than when they arrived on the scene.

I am so over the nonsense they deliver under the guise of policy initiative and the last thing I want to see happening is another term of a coalition government headed by Howard with a sulking Costello in the wings. Or worse, a Costello headed government.

Just like in the 70's, "It's Time".
